Healing happens in well-resourced communities
While we focus on rebuilding our local economies, we also need healing in our communities.
Each time we run the Survey of Rural Challenges, people mention racism and racial divides in their communities. In 2019, twice as many people said their communities are becoming more diverse than those that said the opposite. Many said they’re frustrated at the lack of progress on equitably including everyone in the community. How can communities heal such deep and long-lasting problems?
Author and scholar Renina Jarmon said, “Healing happens in well-resourced communities.”
If local entrepreneurs prosper, they bring in resources that help their communities prosper. But that only helps heal divisions if your prosperous community includes realistic opportunities for everyone. Every single one.
Keep shaping the future of your town,
