Do you have an Idea Friendly story to share? I want it for the next book
Kathryn Witherington recently confessed that she’s been using Idea Friendly for 6 years!
Truly cannot say enough about the Idea Friendly method for this – I’ve used it in the last 6 years to create two downtown public spaces, including millions in investment from the city, and am now using it to grow affordable housing opportunities.
I am pretty much an Idea Friendly evangelist here in Southeast Washington, and we’ve seen really cool results in the downtown revitalization space, and now I’m loving exploring how to bring that same philosophy to affordable housing and other community work.

Kathryn and I are going to talk later this week so I can hear more of her story.
And I want your Idea Friendly stories, too.
- How are you using it?
- What has it changed for you?
- How have you made it your own or adapted it for your situation?
- How are you getting others on board with it?
Here’s why this matters:
There’s another Idea Friendly book coming up.
You’ve seen Deb’s amazing workbook: From Possibilities to Reality: Save Your Small Town with these Uniquely Do-able Ideas, Projects, and Success Stories. It’s the graphical, quick-start version of Idea Friendly, packed full of examples you can adapt right away. Perfect for sharing with groups and kicking off immediate action. (Did Deb mention you get book club pricing for as few as 5 copies? Get in there!)
I’ve heard a few folks say they love it, and they want more. A little more text, a little more explanation so they can adapt the Idea Friendly Method in new ways. And that’s what I’m working on.
Working title:
The Idea Friendly Guide:
Practical, Immediate Steps to Break Free from Old-Way Thinking and Transform Your Community’s Future
I’ll walk you through the Idea Friendly Method in more depth. We’ll talk about making the transition from old way to new way, and how to cope with those people who don’t want to come along. Officials and boards get their own section.
This is where your story comes in. Hit reply. Let me know if you want to jump on a call. Send me pics! I can’t wait to hear from you.
Thank you so much for all you do for your community. You’re changing the trajectory of your town.
Thank you,
Becky
PS – If you want to help with beta reading or offering feedback on early drafts, let me know. I’ll add you to a separate list for extra updates.
